Is it True That So Many Workers Died Building the Panama Canal That The Bodies Were Smuggled Out and Sold as Medical Cadavers in Europe?

I was unable to confirm, though it looks like so many people died while building the Panama Railroad that the bodies were sold internationally and, for years, steadily funded the local hospital.
