There’s a false rumor that I began hearing twenty-years ago about Coke about it being naturally green, however why would they color it caramel in the first place, and why did so many other drinks follow suit?
It actually turns out that this was part of the original recipe to prevent impurities/inconsistencies in the early manufacturing process from causing changes in the color. The caramel/brown coloring that they use hides this.
Was Coca-Cola originally green?
